Privacy policy

How Current Studio collects, uses, and stores personal information, written for the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

Who we are

Current Studio is a video marketing partner operating in Auckland, New Zealand. Current Studio is a sole trader business run by Mitchell Carlyle. We work from a home-based office and do not publish a street address, so all correspondence should go to [email protected].

What this policy covers

This policy covers personal information collected through the currentstudio.nz website. Information collected during a client engagement, such as footage, contact lists, or access to an advertising account, is governed by the agreement covering that engagement rather than by this page.

What the contact form collects

When you send an enquiry through the form on our contact page, we collect:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your business name
  • Your phone number, if you choose to give one. It is optional.
  • The monthly marketing budget band you select
  • What you tell us about your content challenge
  • How you heard about Current Studio, if you choose to tell us

We collect this to reply to your enquiry, work out whether we are a good fit, and prepare a proposal if you ask for one. We do not use it for anything else. We do not sell it, and we do not add you to a mailing list from a form submission.

The form is processed by Web3Forms, a third party form service, which passes the submission on to our email inbox. Your information passes through and is stored on their systems in the course of doing that. Their privacy terms are published at web3forms.com/privacy.

Enquiry emails are received and stored in our business email account. We keep them for as long as we need them to respond to you and to meet our record keeping obligations, and delete them when we no longer do.

Analytics

We want to know which pages people read so we can improve the site. How that happens depends on which tool is running:

  • Google Analytics 4. If enabled, this sets cookies in your browser and sends data, including a truncated version of your IP address, to Google. It only loads if you choose to allow it in the notice shown on your first visit. If you decline, or simply never choose, no analytics scripts load and no analytics cookies are set. You can change your mind by clearing this site's data in your browser.
  • Cloudflare Web Analytics. If enabled instead, this is cookieless. It does not track you across sites and does not build a profile of you.

This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes standard server request data such as IP address and browser type in order to serve the site and protect it from abuse.

Third party embeds

Some pages may embed content hosted elsewhere, such as a video player or a link to a post on LinkedIn or Instagram. Where an embed is present, that provider can receive your IP address and set its own cookies once the embed loads, under its own privacy terms rather than ours. Following an external link takes you to a site we do not control.

Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means Google receives a request from your browser, including your IP address, when a page loads.

Your rights under the Privacy Act 2020

The Privacy Act 2020 gives you the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to ask for a copy of it, and to ask us to correct it if it is wrong. Email [email protected] and we will respond within 20 working days, which is the timeframe the Act sets.

You can also ask us to delete an enquiry you have sent. We will do that unless we need to keep it for a legal or accounting reason.

Storage and security

We take reasonable steps to keep personal information secure and to restrict access to it. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of information while it is in transit to us over the internet.

Some of the services described here store data outside New Zealand. Submitting an enquiry means your information may be stored or processed overseas.

Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, tell us first at [email protected] so we can try to sort it out. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version is published on this page with a new date at the top.
